Why Phalaris? What made him so special? Much deserves to be bestowed upon of the speed laden mega stirp of Phalaris (1913) that developed a truly overwhelming dominance over all other male lines, leading to a collectively slow but steady diminution in their numbers.

Simultaneously, Phalaris’ share of the sire line spectrum grew in exponential fashion as success begat success. For the last one hundred years, all competing sire lines have seen their figures markedly regress, ultimately to extinction in most cases. In this perpetual ‘survival of the fittest’ environment, no other male line has been able to transmit the overall brilliance and classicity of Phalaris whose tail male line now finds itself encompassing over 95% of the world’s population of thoroughbreds.
